Bakeries around New York City that work with the incubator will offer special items throughout June.
This month, bakeries across the city are paying homage to Hot Bread Kitchen, a career training program and incubator that has supported immigrant women and people of color starting their own businesses since 2008. For what they’re calling the Fête du Pain, established bakeries that participate in the organization’s Quality Jobs Lab, an effort to create better jobs, are offering specialties for which Hot Bread Kitchen is known. (A portion of proceeds benefit Hot Bread.) In Manhattan, Russ & Daughters will have bialys and Amy’s Bread is featuring challah. The Brooklyn bakeries include Runner & Stone with M’smen Moroccan flatbread, Colson Patisserie offering Nan-e Qandi Persian bread and L’Imprimerie with baguettes. La Boulangerie de François in Queens will sell pecan currant bread. Dates for availability are listed on Hot Bread's website.
