The Girl Scouts of St. Paul’s Junior Troop 2313 have been working hard earning their Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. It shows they have made a promise to help others and improve their community. The girls picked “Breast Cancer Awareness” as their project because Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts of the USA, died from breast cancer at a time when the words “breast” and “cancer” were not spoken in “polite company.” She died in 1927 at the age of 66. The Junior Girl Scouts wanted to honor her memory by completing a project to help others learn more about breast cancer, and hopefully save lives.
