Five Points Pizza Staff Turns Unused Dough Into Bread For the Homeless - Eater Nashville

adaapablogsi.blogspot.com

On Wednesday, the doors at many Nashville restaurants remain closed due to unsafe icy road conditions via to the winter storm that began blanketing the city with ice and snow on Valentine’s Day. That was also the case at both locations of local favorite Five Points Pizza. But thirteen staff members decided they couldn’t let all of that dough go to waste — so they braved the roads to come in and turn that NY-style pizza dough into loaves of bread to feed Nashville’s homeless population.

Continuing the spirit of paying it forward, one Nashville food influencer with a massive following, Kate Davis (@Nashvillefoodfan) created a post to collect tips for the thirteen employees. Within a matter of hours, generous Instagram followers from far and wide had contributed $4000 to the Five Points staff. This was a continuation of her borrowed tip collection efforts on Valentine’s Day weekend, a $6000 virtual “tip jar” via Venmo which Davis plans to distribute to restaurant employees all across the city once this ice finally melts.

Nashvillians being nice — it’s certainly a pattern of paying it forward, especially in the hard hit restaurant industry during this impossibly hard 365 days which have involved a tornado, derecho, pandemic, bomb, and now, too, an ice storm.
