Not My Daughter…Find a Cure Now! brings women together for a common purpose—to raise awareness and create a future for their daughters without breast cancer.

“Raising funds is one aspect, but raising awareness is not tangible and just as important,” said Denyse Hostig, founder and chairwoman of Not My Daughter.

Known throughout Parkland and Coral Springs, the South Florida organization, founded in 2010, by women personally affected by breast cancer, donates 100 percent of its funds raised to breast cancer research.

Similar to many others, their flagship fundraiser held every October would look a little different this year.

Instead of shopping and enjoying lunch at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel, the event is now a telethon where team members will reach out to friends, family, and past luncheon guests requesting donations.

“Precarious times call for creative measures,” said Hostig, who is also a breast cancer survivor. “We’ve gotten very creative, and we’re hoping this telethon brings the community together to raise money for breast cancer research and much needed ancillary services for patients and survivors.”

The “Quaranqueens” telethon will take place on October 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Facebook Live, and feature live feeds from the Marriott, pre-recorded specials, virtual classes, like cooking, yoga, essential oils, and more. They will have raffles and periodically post scheduled events on the Not My Daughter Find a Cure Now Facebook page.

Hostig said the goal is to raise enough money to keep the patient services center fully funded for 2020 to 2021.

All of the day’s pledges will go towards breast cancer research and much-needed funds for the Not My Daughter Patient Support Services Center located at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Society in Plantation.

Donors can call 954-247-1092 during the telethon, Venmo @notmydaughter, or visit notmydaughter.org/donate.

Hostig said breast cancer never knew how to take a day off before COVID and doesn’t know how to take a day off after.
