Panera Bread shutters spot at Princeton University - NJ.com

Sandwich chain Panera Bread has shuttered its Princeton University spot, according to a report by The Daily Princetonian.

A sign is now posted on the door redirecting customers to Panera Bread’s West Windsor and Plainsboro locations, the report says.

The restaurant was located at 136 Nassau St.

There are 77 Panera Bread locations in New Jersey, besides the Princeton University location, which is still listed on the company’s website. It is unknown whether any other New Jersey locations are permanently closing, and a Panera Bread spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Panera Bread launched a grocery service in April to try to cope with the loss of sales during the coronavirus pandemic. CEO Niren Chaudhary said the company lost half its business once its dining rooms closed, according to a report by CNBC.

Quaker Steak and Lube and Ruby Tuesday are other restaurant chains that have recently closed locations.
