Downtown Plymouth's "new normal" will move forward without a Panera Bread.
A sign was posted in the cornerstone business's front entrance announcing the store has been permanently closed.
Panera, which was located at the corner of Main Street and Ann Arbor Trail, was part of the Mayflower Center complex, which was renovated in 2002.
The final post on the business's Facebook page was published May 28 and read:
Precious Cargo! Don't forget about our awesome Curbside Ordering + Pick-Up service.
Panera Bread has over 2,000 stores throughout the United States and Canada, according to the company's website.

It's not the first metro Detroit Panera Bread location to close permanently. The Westland Panera location is closed. Other businesses have announced reopening will not happen, including the Westland Pizza Hut, A Good Day Cafe in South Lyon and Blue Grille Mediterranean in Milford. Industry experts have said diners should expect to see more restaurants opting to remain closed as the economy reopens.
