Brittany Land is an inspiration and a fighter. She was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer at only 24 years old.

Land was diagnosed with breast cancer on Oct. 9, 2019. Three months prior, she found a lump on her breast and went to a surgeon to get it checked out. She went back in on Oct. 3 where she found out the tumor changed shape and size, forcing her to have a breast biopsy the next day. After she had a double mastectomy and several scans, she found out her cancer was triple positive.

"Breast cancer is not common in young women, and most women will develop a benign tumor in their breast, so nobody thought it was anything serious at the time," Land said. "Being told you have cancer, especially at the age of 24, is something that can flip your world upside down, or at least that's what I thought."

Land then started chemotherapy in November 2019 and soon after started making TikTok videos during her treatments. She said making videos has helped her through the process to keep her mind off treatment and make the time go by faster. Growing up, Land was a dancer, so she was able to bring joy to a glum situation.

"I didn’t expect my first video to get any attention, but so many people reached out to me saying how inspiring it was and they couldn’t wait to see more," Land said.

While going to her treatments, Land has written helpful advice other survivors have given her as well as things she learned along the way that she may one day be able to share with another young "breast cancer thriver."

Land is on her third and final round of treatment. She is expected to finish in November of this year.

Land said if anyone is going through cancer or knows someone who was diagnosed, stay strong and never stop fighting.

"I know from experience that at the beginning it all sounds impossible and you just want to give up right then and there, but it’s not and you will get through it," Land said. "Of course there are bad days and even bad weeks, but when you’re able to look back on everything you’ve been through you will be so proud of yourself. It’s okay to have a pity party every now and then, but keeping a positive attitude is really what has gotten me through this journey."
