The Great Harvest Bread Company location in Ashburn has closed its doors. It was located in the Cameron Chase Village Center, sometimes known as Ice Rink Plaza at the corner of Waxpool Road and Farmwell Road.
A sign on the front door says they are closing temporarily while they search for a new location in Ashburn. “We look forward to announcing a new location shortly,” the message reads. No word on where that location might be.
Great Harvest had been a staple of the Ashburn food scene for years, selling its fresh-baked breads that rotated each week and month. Varieties included traditional white and wheat breads, but also 9-Grain, Raisin Cinnamon Walnut, Challah, Olive Sourdough and many others.
The message to Great Harvest customers said the bakery would continue to appear at the One Loudoun Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and the Brambleton Farmer’s Market on Sundays. The owner of the Ashburn store also has locations in Herndon and Vienna.
Great Harvest is the second high-profile business at the shopping center to go looking elsewhere for a new location. The owners of Ford’s Fish Shack have announced they have not been able to come to terms on a new lease with the landlord and are looking to leave the Cameron Chase Village Center and find an alternative location in Ashburn. (See our coverage of the Ford’s decision here.)
While there is still a possibility that Ford’s will end up remaining at the center, that does not appear to be the case with Great Harvest. The shop is already locked up and it appears some of the equipment and fixtures have already been removed.
