A popular Midwestern bread brand is recalling almost a dozen of its products, warning of serious or life-threatening risks after a customer experienced an allergic reaction. A government investigation led to the recall. Here are the breads the bakery chain is pulling.
Michigan FM radio station WHMI has reported on the recall of 11 bread products at Great Harvest Bread Co. The Montana-based bakery chain has a reported near-200 locations across all 50 U.S. states.

A Great Harvest Bread Co. customer reportedly filed a complaint after experiencing an allergic reaction from Great Harvest's cinnamon swirl bread. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) conducted an investigation, which led to the discovery that labels on various types of Great Harvest breads "did not indicate the presence of eggs, wheat, or milk in the ingredients," according to our source. Further research revealed that a temporary error had occurred in Great Harvest's label production. The company is said to be cooperating with the department to ensure these labeling errors are corrected.
In the meantime, Great Harvest Bread Co. has issued a recall of the following products: Cinnamon Swirl, Cinnamon Chip, Golden Cheddar Garlic, Dakota Seed, Oregon Herb, Pepperoni Pizza Rolls, Sandwich Rye, Santa Fe Jalapeño Cheese, and Challah. The company states that "Great Harvest brand breads from other franchises are not affected by the recall," according to WHMI.
Reports suggest Great Harvest has invited concerned customers to return the bread to the place of purchase for full refund, or contact the company with questions.
