Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer won’t give up amid pandemic - Boston Herald

This is the year of coronavirus cancellations — and unfortunately, many shuttered events have included charity fundraisers. And so it is a particularly welcome bit of news that Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer is going ahead with plans to fire up the ovens.

This year has also been devastating for restaurants, yet over 250 eateries, bakeries, cafes and pastry shops around Greater Boston will participate. The proceeds from their desserts will support breast cancer research.

“We continue to grow each year, raise more money than the year before, and I’m completely in awe of the people who support those venues and our organization in a number of other ways. We are overwhelmed with gratitude towards those that support us year in and year out, along with the new venues that want to join our fight in ending breast cancer. We are pleased to have been able to evolve this year’s initiative into something that we think will work for all during this current time. Although we may have tough hurdles ahead due to the impact of COVID-19, we are dedicated to meeting our fundraising goals.” Bakes for Breast Cancer founder Carol Sneider said in a statement

The fundraiser runs Oct. 19-25. Go to bakesforbreastcancer.org/restaurant-and-bakeries.
