Local non-profit organizations are adapting so they can continue to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For the next couple of days, the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester is holding the 19th Pink Ribbon Walk and Run.

"You know being able to continue to serve the community takes funds. That’s the way it is. COVID-19 may be here but we're here too. Cancer doesn’t stop just because there’s a pandemic, and this is our largest fundraiser of the year and it’s critically important that it do well," said Holly Anderson, Breast Cancer Coalition executive director.

Despite it being a virtual event this year, more than 1,000 people have signed up to help raise money. Some of the participants are from as far away as Alaska and California.

To date, the Walk and Run has raised $144,000 for those fighting breast cancer, and every penny stays local.

If you’d like to take part, there is still time to sign up. Registration goes until tomorrow night.

You can sign up for the Pink Ribbon Walk & Run here.
