DOYLESTOWN, PA — A month of fundraising across five Bucks County towns has raised $68,000 for local breast cancer patients.

The Pine2Pink Foundation announced the results of its October 2020 fundraising campaign on Monday. The money will be used to help breast cancer patients in treatment and recovery at the Doylestown Health Cancer Institute, Grand View Hospital in Perkasie and Fox Chase Cancer Center in Buckingham.

For the entire month of October, streetlamps and other outdoor lights in Doylestown, New Hope, Carversville, Peddler's Village and Perkasie were refitted with pink lightbulbs as part of the awareness campaign, and local businesses offered specialty items where proceeds of each purchase benefitted the foundation.

"I didn't go into this fundraising season with lofty goals. I wanted to be level set, as these are uncertain and difficult times," Keith Fennimore, founder and executive director of Pine2Pink, said in a news release. "But the level of enthusiasm and support Pine2Pink received from both businesses and people within the communities we serve was unprecedented."

Donations will also help fund a variety programs to benefit breast cancer patients, including coverage of out-of-pocket expenses for those experiencing financial hardship, transportation to and from doctor visits and a meal delivery service through Modern Palette to provide prepared healthy meals to patient's doorsteps.

Since its founding in 2018, the organization has raised $179,5000 to benefit breast cancer patients in Bucks County, Fenimore said.
