This Utah mama is milking her bizarre breastfeeding experience.
Lindsay White, 35, has gone viral on TikTok after revealing she found breastmilk leaking from her armpits shortly after giving birth to her first child.
The lactating lady — who posts under the handle @thelittlemilkbar — said she rushed to her doctor “thinking she had a third nipple.”
White’s video has been viewed more than 5 million times, and she is now sharing further details about her experience in an interview with Jam Press.
“I’d only been breastfeeding for a few weeks before I realized liquid coming from there every time I fed my daughter,” Lindsay recalled.
“At first I was so confused as to where this liquid was coming from and what it was. Then I followed the trail and realized it was coming from my armpit,” she added. “I noticed a huge lump so I pushed on it and tons of milk started squirting out, it was really tender too.”
White sought medical attention, believing there may have been a third nipple in her armpit.
However, an examination revealed no such thing, and White’s doctor explained that it was “normal” for some moms to experience armpit leaks.
“He said that our milk line runs all the way up into our armpits. It’s called the ‘tail of Spence’… and [he told me] not to worry,” she stated.
White also stated that she later had some milk leak from her other armpit.
Despite the leaks not being cause for alarm, White stated that the duct under her arms were “engorged and incredibly painful” and would often leak in public places — including the supermarket.
White is now a mom of three, and says she has experienced the same phenomenon each time she has breastfed her babies.
Many women praised White for sharing her story on TikTok, saying it would help other moms should they experience something similar.
“Normalize women’s anatomy so we can just know things like this from interacting with other women,” one admirer wrote.
White told JamPress: “I personally don’t know any other mother who have experienced this which is why it freaked me out so much when it first happened – and also the reason why I posted about it on TikTok.”
“I realized no I hadn’t seen anyone talk about this before,” she added. “So even though it was embarrassing, I knew I needed to talk about it so other moms… know they’re not alone.”
