COMSTOCK PARK, MI – Two Grand Rapids-area companies have combined to create a new beer.
Beer City Rye IPA is the creation of Perrin Brewing Company and Beer City Bread Co., a local company that makes artisan breads with beer. Beer City Rye IPA is now available on draft and in 6-packs at the brewery’s Comstock Park pub, with statewide distribution coming soon.
Beer City Rye IPA checks in at 8% ABV and features American hops that showcase notes of biscuit and caraway seed from toasted rye bread added directly to the mash, according to the brewery.
“Craft beer comes full circle in Beer City Rye IPA,” said Senior Marketing Manager Lindsey VanDenBoom. “Perrin beer first goes into making Beer City Bread Company’s toasted rye bread.
“Then, that toasted rye is used to lend spicy depth of flavor to Beer City Rye IPA. Bread and beer have a truly cooperative relationship, making our partnership with our neighbors at Beer City Bread Co. very natural. We’re all super proud of this Western-Michigan-powered beer.”
Beer City Bread Company products are developed from craft beer and natural European sourdough starters that are cultivated daily.
Each dough is aged more than 24 hours, then processed on a bread line before baking.
