Food banks estimate it could be years before food insecurity stops increasing.
Communities around Western New York have been coming together to help feed hungry neighbors in the meantime.
It's called The Daily Bread Food Truck. It's Buffalo's only nonprofit food truck, and it has wheels thanks to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eggertsville.
At first, the focus were families in the Windermere Elementary School area. But, as the pandemic continued, it became clear the need was so much greater.
Since last March, more than 3,500 meals have been served.
Many of those are thanks to dozens of restaurants and businesses who donated when events to raise money were canceled.
"I think I just always believed the funds would come and we would be able to provide...just giving people the opportunity to help," said Daily Bread Food Truck Coordinator Katie Basham.
