SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Scotch Plains Township has announced that it will host The Rose Checchio Walk to Wipe Out Breast Cancer in honor of the late Councilwoman and to support breast cancer research through Play for P.I.N.K. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 9:00 a.m.
In October 2019, more than 200 friends, family and supporters participated in The Rose Checchio Walk to Wipe Out Breast Cancer. All proceeds from the race and from the sale of T-shirts go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through Play for P.I.N.K.
Councilwoman Checchio made significant contributions to the Township of Scotch Plains following her election in 2014 and initiated many programs that helped the community. She was also a successful business owner and founder of Little Genius Academy, a dedicated wife and mother, and a role model for the community. She served as Scotch Plains Deputy Mayor in 2016. Last month, the Township dedicated "Rose's Garden" on the Alan Augustine Green in honor of the late councilwoman.
